What to check
- Make sure nothing blocks the doorway
- Check the photo-eye sensor path
- Look for bumped or misaligned sensors
- Watch for a bent track or displaced roller
- Note whether the door reverses at the same point every time
What the symptoms can mean
A door that opens normally but will not close often points toward sensors, obstruction, opener settings, track resistance, or another closing-path issue.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop operating the door if it is visibly crooked, off track, unusually heavy, has a broken spring or loose cable, or makes severe mechanical noise. Do not loosen spring or cable hardware.
