What to check
- Track obstruction or binding
- Damaged roller or hinge
- Broken or failing spring
- Cable problem
- Opener travel, drive, or control issue
What the symptoms can mean
Do not force a crooked or unstable door through the rest of its travel. Note whether both sides of the door are level and whether any cable, roller, or track looks displaced.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop operating the door if it is visibly crooked, off track, unusually heavy, has a broken spring or loose cable, or makes severe mechanical noise. Do not loosen spring or cable hardware.
