What to check
- Objects blocking the beam
- Dirty sensor lenses
- Sensor housings bumped out of alignment
- Loose or damaged low-voltage wiring
- Indicator lights that are off, blinking, or inconsistent
What the symptoms can mean
Safety sensors are intended to help prevent the door from closing through an obstruction. Correct the underlying sensor or opener issue rather than bypassing the system.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop operating the door if it is visibly crooked, off track, unusually heavy, has a broken spring or loose cable, or makes severe mechanical noise. Do not loosen spring or cable hardware.
