Stop when the door becomes unstable
- Door is crooked or partially off track
- Spring is visibly broken
- Cable is loose or frayed
- Door moves unpredictably
- Track or panel is badly damaged after impact
Keep the travel path clear
Do not allow people, pets, tools, or stored items to remain in the path of a moving garage door. Keep safety sensors unobstructed and address repeated sensor problems rather than bypassing them.
Use the emergency release carefully
The emergency release disconnects the opener trolley from the door. A disconnected opener does not make a heavy, unbalanced, or damaged door safe to lift manually.
