What to check
- Emergency-release trolley is disengaged
- Drive component has failed
- Spring is broken
- Door is jammed or mechanically blocked
- Opener is moving but not transferring force to the door
What the symptoms can mean
Do not assume the opener is the only problem. A failed spring can leave the opener unable to lift the door even when the motor still runs.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop operating the door if it is visibly crooked, off track, unusually heavy, has a broken spring or loose cable, or makes severe mechanical noise. Do not loosen spring or cable hardware.
