What to check
- One side sits higher than the other
- A roller is visibly outside the track
- A cable looks loose or displaced
- The track is bent after impact
- The door jams partway through travel
What the symptoms can mean
Stop operating the opener. An off-track door can become more unstable when it is forced to move, particularly when cables or tracks are also damaged.
When to stop troubleshooting
Stop operating the door if it is visibly crooked, off track, unusually heavy, has a broken spring or loose cable, or makes severe mechanical noise. Do not loosen spring or cable hardware.
